Skip-Care VS Skincare
Most women are convinced that an ideal and effective skincare routine is an hour-long 10 step process, a so-called Korean beauty skincare order.
Never heard about it? Many skincare brands have started putting together these sets. You can find these in stores such as Ulta or Sephora.
If you are sitting in front of a makeup table, full of all kinds of jars and bottles, you probably will be easily confused as to the proper skincare routine order.
For example, Korean skincare routine tips suggest the following steps to achieve perfect skin:
- Oil cleanser
- Foam/Cream cleanser
- Toner
- Essence
- Emulsion
- Ampoule/Serum
- Sheet Mask
- Eye Cream
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
No makeup is included in this list! For such an extensive list of products, one would need a skincare organizer or even skincare app to stay updated!
You should have a specific mindset for such a lengthy routine turning your skincare into a daily ritual.
As you are aware, a working woman and/or stay at home mom’s routine takes most of one’s day. On top of this you still need to find time for fitness which is equally important for the skin even if it is not considered as a part "skincare". Many of us simply do not have time or dedication to do all this and still maintain a good skin care routine.
The opposite approach is one of the latest skincare trends for 2019 called "skip-care". Skip-care suggests concentrating on a few power ingredients while minimizing your skincare routine to just 5 minutes per day.
Rather than layering multiple skincare products, concentrate on one objective over a specific period of time after which you would then move on to the next objective of yours. Once you’ve finished your course you could then switch to something such as retinol or peptides.
For example, Vitamin C will help even out skin tone, increase collagen protein synthesis while treating and helping to prevent ultraviolet UV photo-damage.
It is important to let Vitamin C build up in skin cells over time. Positive results will start to show as soon as 2 weeks to 4 months.
